THE City Health Insurance Office (CHIO) will have a budget of P15.3 million for year 2019.

During the last day of the marathon budget deliberation of the City Council Committee of the Whole headed by Vice Mayor Raineir V. Uy presided over by Councilor Edna M. Dahino, legislators approved in principle the proposed budget of CHIO in the amount of P15.3 million.

These include salaries and wages (P8.8 million), maintenance and other operating expenses (P5.9 million) and for the purchase of the equipment amounting to P505,000.

During the deliberation, Dr. William Bernardo of CHIO said the office has different divisions for the different major programs and services.

One of the main divisions was the membership that includes sponsorship program for PhilHealth members, Claims division that collects from PhilHealth claims submitted by the different health facilities such health centers, lying-in, among others. All claims are not transmitted directly to PhilHealth, Dr. Bernardo said.

“Everything will be passed through the CHIO…moagi gyud sa office to double check.”

Also approved in principle was the proposed budget of City Veterinary Office in the amount of P39.7 million.

The total appropriation will cover the budgets for salaries and wages (P31.5 million), maintenance and other operating expenses (P4.7 million) and purchase of equipment (P1.06 million).

Other CVO projects include Livestock Production Support (P700,000), Swine Production (P800,000), Biogas Technology (P100,000), Duck Raising (P300,000), among others. (sp)
