IN line with the city’s all-out war policy against drugs, the City Council has enacted an ordinance establishing the Cagayan de Oro City Screening Drug Testing Laboratory at the City Health Office, defining its functions, operations and administration.
The purpose of the ordinance is for the city to provide its constituency with quality drug testing laboratory services, ensuring accurate and improved laboratory diagnostic aid.
Under the law, the drug testing lab shall be organized to provide quality, effective and efficient laboratory services. The same shall also be fully compliant with the standards and requirements set forth by the Department of Health.
There shall also be an adequate number of qualified medical technologists and other health professionals with documented training and experience to conduct the lab procedures.
Pursuant to the ordinance, clients shall be charged with the corresponding service fees based on the approved government schedule: P100 to P250 for drug testing fee per person; P40 for screening kit; P20 for urine cups (60 ml); and P10 for forms.
They shall pay directly to the City Treasurer’s Office or to its authorized representative.
Indigent person shall be exempted from paying the fees subject to existing laws and rules. (sp)
