THROUGH an ordinance, the City Council has authorized Mayor Oscar Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the barangay chairpersons of Barangays Bugo, Puerto, Tablon, Agusan, Cugman, Gusa, Lapasan, Puntod, Macabalan, Bayabas, Bonbon, and Bulua, and with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-10) and other partner national government agencies.

This covers the implementation of its project: Challenge for Change Program ‘CDO Limpyo Dagat,’ a contest among coastal barangays to free the sea from trash and marine debris and a local action to contribute to global solution.

The partner government agencies are the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Tourism, 4th ID Philippine Army, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Department of Public Works and Highways, which are all supporting the program.

The CDO Limpyo Dagat Contest is a program of the government that will enlist a meaningful commitment among the public to help free the city from trash and marine debris. (sp)
