Iligan City — In its session this week, the Sangguniang Panlungsod failed to get an audience with City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council head Patrick Nuñez to shed light on the unauthorizing renting of life jackets owned by the city, city councilor Petronilo Pardillo said.

The officials had heard that the city-owned life jackets have been rented out to the public.

The councilor also added that they questioned city treasurer Louella Maybituin about the matter and the answer was negative, he said. He added that fellow councilor Queenie Belmonte, said they should “force” Nuñez  to answer the allegations as somebody had really come up with “evidence” on the matter.

Tinago falls, to note, is located between Linamon, Lanao Norte and this city. People there who want to swim in  the area below the falls have to don life jackets for their safety. Pardillo said the city has taken over the area.

Meanwhile, lawyer Moises Dalisay, Jr. a former city councilor, said the city should get to the root of the matter and when the “renting” out  of life jackets began.

It was learned that this was rented out at P25 per life jacket.

The city council hopes Nuñez would come to the session next week.
