SOMEONE called up, offering an upgraded Internet service. I said, “No, it’s the same old trick that gives us fast service in the beginning and end up in a matter of months, lousy and crawling service.” The only fast, nay, immediate service we get from them is cutting off our line for delayed payment.

Being hooked on computer is like being hooked on drugs. Once an addict, you get any kind of drug, even something not pure, just to get a fix.

Everybody knows that we are a country with the slowest Internet service, that we are not getting our money’s worth. But we all continue to pay because we have no choice. These giants know that like giant drug cartels.

So what do we do? Nothing! Every one thirsts for the in-thing, not to be left behind in the use of modern technology. We grab at anything new technology offers. Bahala na ang palpak serbisyo.

Giant servers make their outlets look elegant, employees dressed in their best as if ready to serve. But when you talk of your problem, what do you get? “Asa imo address, Sir?” “We’ll check on that, Sir.” “We’re doing some upgrading, Sir.” As if they never run out of excuses, we continue to get lousy services.

A friend who boasts of new services at a cost of 5K, more or less. That’s it. Pay more because what we are already paying, though already lousy, will just get worse.

Money, money, money! This greed for more undeserved money continues. Wait for karmic justice, you SOBs!

Has vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo been drawn into the lions’ den? Maybe it was tough during her soul searching. Still, some would have loved to see her run as an independent or not at all.

Philippine Star columnist Jarius Bondoc said it. Inquirer columnist Antonio Montalvan II said it. The grand design of LP to cheat should make Madame Robredo squirm on her seat.

Mar Roxas was said to give an angry reply and said that if he knew the culprits, he will demand an investigation. Well, Mar Roxas can start investigating the LPs who are involved in questionable deals. Start with it!

This grand conspiracy to cheat might just make Leni withdraw from the race. I can’t stand all LP candidates with the same surname, PCOS!

The other day, I saw our river in its shallowest state. The rocks in the middle of the river are showing. Are we or are we not going to dredge our river?

One construction firm offered to dredge the river at no cost to the city government. His only condition is that, he gets whatever reclamation area he makes. The city government likes the idea but somebody up there (national office) wanted a slice of the pie––a big slice, in fact.

If our river is already that shallow, where do you expect floodwaters from the mountains to go but the city proper? Are you not afraid of this? I am.

If that happens, it will test the strength of the Japan International Cooperation Agency-funded dike.
