This was confirmed by Chief Insp. Ian Datiles, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) chief during an interview last Friday.

Supt. Michael John Deloso

Datiles said Deloso’s name was forwarded to Malacañang after he was validated by his unit.

Curiously, although Deloso was already cleared by RDEU his name is still in the President’s list.

Deloso, Datiles said, was not yet charged as there is still a continuing validation and monitoring on him.

Datiles said, as far as his unit is concerned, Deloso is already clean.

He said while it was true that the said police official was in the RDEU derogatory record before, he was already cleared when their unit found him not involved in any nefarious activities.

Deloso was ambushed by two armed men last Nov. 20 at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Capitol compound.

Though badly hit in the different parts of his body, Deloso survived the attack and is now reportedly in a stable condition in a safe house.

Datiles said he has a good relationship with Deloso. In fact, he added, they always talked whenever they met.

Busa natingala ko nganong gisumbong niya akong duha ka operatiba nga wala man gyud silang duha panahon sa pagpang ambush,” Datiles said.

In his affidavit, Deloso named SPO1 Ian Quitoriano and P03 Elmer Arabe as the persons who allegedly ambushed him while he was inside his driven vehicle. The two are presently assigned at the RDEU.

The two police officers submitted their joint counter affidavit to the prosecution office.

It was learned that a panel of prosecutors was created for the said complaint.

Datiles said he, together with Quitoriano and Arabe were in Bukidnon for a police operation with members of the Philippine Drug Enforcemeny Agency on the day Deloso was ambushed.

From Bukidnon, Datiles explained, they proceeded to LBC Divisoria branch for another operation.

In his affidavit, Deloso stated that before he was shot several times,  he saw through his right side mirror of the vehicle PO3 Elmer Arabe tailing him.

While on his left side mirror he also saw SPO1 Ian Quitoriano. This, though the two were wearing helmets.

Datiles said he is even willing to subject the guns of his men for a ballistic examination and even including his government-issued gun anytime.
