To ensure that business establishments including resorts in the region will not violate any environmental laws, a tripartite monitoring team was created.

Thus said Northern Mindanao Environment and Natural Resources regional director Arleigh Adorable.

According to Adorable, the group that was formed last week was composed of the Department of Tourism, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the DENR.

Adorable said the function of the said team is to inspect tourist establishments especially those located in the coastal areas.

He said they have already initialy inspect several resort establishments located in the towns of Initao to Opol.

He said the results of their efforts will be presented in the end of this month.

He said that whatever be the outcome of their investigation it would then be discussed together with the concerned government agencies.

Adorable said their group has already the lists of those establishments that already finished inspection.

“Ang amo gud ani tan awon kung duna bay mga violations ilang nahimo o mga balaod sa atong environment nga nasupak sama sa environmental compliance certificate o ECC,” Adorable said.

Adorable said their group will also seek the help of Local Government Units (LGU) telling them to convince their constituents to follow what is being stipulated in the DENR law.

He said violators will be immediately issued a notice of violation with an assurance they will give them due process.
