The Department of Information and Communication Technology-Mindanao Cluster 2 (DICT-MC2) has widened its public service in distributing complete units of computers to public libraries in provincial and municipal offices in Misamis Oriental.
This after, TechEd Project focal person Engr. Joel A. Hoy, DICT-MC2 led the distribution of some 15 complete computer sets through Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano’s educational program and Misamis Oriental Provincial Capitol Public Library to four municipal-based public libraries, and one barangay.
Among the beneficiaries were municipal public libraries based in Gitagum, Lagonglong, Naawan, Initao, and Barangay Mananum Bag-o in Medina, all in Misamis Oriental. Cost per unit is peg at around more than P264 thousand.
“This will give more opportunity to all residents in learning more about computers and the new way of communication,” he said.
Hoy said DICT is trying to establish 2,000 eCenters in far-flung areas all over the country and they are taking part of it by looking in municipalities and barangay units who had installed their own public libraries.
DICT website disclosed that more than millions of people have used the Technology for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (Tech4ED) Project’s services to date.
He said they are seeking to narrow down the digital divide in the country by contributing to set up more Tech4ED centers in the province.
“Kini pamaagi nga ang tanan mahiablo na gayud sa pag-gamit sa computer and can communicate all government agencies regarding their own concern and possible services,” he added.
Richel I. Pajara, Misamis Oriental Librarian, said this program is under the DICT Tech4Ed – center equipment package in which we recommend municipalities and barangays to avail the program.
“We will recommend areas nga maka-avail niini,” she said.
