Masa-Masid is the brainchild of DILG secretary Mike Sueño which aimed to boost the campaign against the proliferation of prohibited drugs in the country.

Based on reports from the DILG Regional office 11, Digos City was the first local government unit to heed on the directive from the national government.

The launching was done just a day after the DILG regional office conducted its ‘Masa-Masid’ launching ceremonies in Davao City wherein local chief executives also attended.

Digos City Mayor Joseph Peñas said despite the lack of funds the city officials through its local DILG office has coordinated with all government agencies concerned including other stakeholders to strengthen efforts to curb drug trafficking and corruption in the government.

“We have to support the President’s all out war against corruption and the alarming reports pertaining to illegal drug use. It is very vital that we will get rid our city from all these vices so that we can push through with our vision to become a peaceful and livable city to work and live,” Peñas said.

Catholic Bishop Guillermo Afable, local officials, PDEA personnel, village officials, among others expressed their support to the launching rites which was started through a motorcade along the main thoroughfares of the city and attending the program at the Rizal Park.

Hundreds of participants joined the signing of their signatures on big tarpaulins placed upstage.
