THE construction boom in the city seems unstoppable. Thus, if the demand for sand and gravel is voluminous, isn’t it high time to dredge our river for this purpose instead of destroying our mountains?

The mountains serve as buffer and breaker of strong winds or typhoons. By dredging the river, it deepens the river bed and deters flooding. The presence of huge deposits of sand and gravel in the river can be seen when it’s shallow. It gives you a fearsome view of what could happen when it rains heavily in the mountain.

It is just unfortunate that Dodong Uy of UKC abandoned a plan to dredge the river due to greed in one national government office.

The sand and gravel can even be used for creating promenades in both sides of the river. This will turn our river into an attraction. With enough lighting, it can be a wholesome view in the night.

I hope the city government would give it a thought. The El Nino phenomenon is conducive for this idea. Let’s take advantage of it!

Text messages from two individuals (women) in the guise of doing business ended up with a question on whether I am married or not. My answer to both was simple. “I am 66.” It’s funny though that their voices sounded familiar. Were they one and the same woman trying to change their voices? Was it a sex carrot dangled to entrap me into some sort of a scandal? Oh my! Somebody must have thought that I am a pervert!

Then this thing about hiring trolls to destroy perceived political enemies. Wow! A dirty department, using dirty money to hire dirty people to do dirty job!

Not so long ago, there was this story about a “tigulang nga kolumnista” allegedly receiving payola from illegal mining operators. Then this accusation about a partnership in illegal quarrying. Were these women or perhaps, just one woman another attempt to destroy me?

Frankly, I have a sex life like everyone else but I am not a maniac who can dare touch another man’s wife.

Is the coming election allowing anything under the sun and no rules, no legal impediments whatsoever? If candidates can spend hundreds of millions for publicity even when the campaign period has not begun, what more during campaign period.

It’s no wonder that we never had any good and honest President. It’s because the winner always try to take back what he spent.

Who was it who said many, many years ago that “The Philippines is a rich country pretending to be poor.” It’s because the government coffers have been looted for decades, and the money never runs dry. If there were some who went to jail for corruption, they were a few “small timers.” The big fish always get away through influence, and by buying their way out.

Whoever can bring genuine change deserves a huge monument.
