GINGOOG City––A pick-up truck driver, wanted for the death of a teenager as a result of a road accident here, surrendered to authorities on Wednesday afternoon.

SP02 Robinson Neri, chief of the city police’s traffic divsion, identified the suspect as Dodge Aclan, a veterinarian and barangay councilor of Punta Santiago in Talisayan town.

Aclan surrendered days after the death of 16-year old Ariadne Dindi Lanas Mercado who was ran over the the pick-up truck on the highway in Barangay San Juan.
The vehicle was identified through a surveillance camera recording.

The teenager’s family is reportedly bent on pressing charges against the suspect.
The suspect is closely associated with Rep. Peter Unabia of the province’s 1st District.

In a statement, Unabia said he was the one who brought Aclan to authorities after he found out what had happened. Unabia said he also met with the victims’ parents, and they were thankful that Aclan is now in the hands of authorities.
