A DRUG suspect can now live to tell his tale after surviving three gunshot wounds in a buy-bust operation yesterday.

Operatives of the city’s anti-drug team conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bulua, this city at 1:30 pm Thursday.

Police Major Ivan Viñas, Cagayan do Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) spokesman, identified the suspect as Gerald Banosa, 39, widower, residing at Zone 8 of the said barangay.

The suspect sustained gunshot wounds to the left and right legs including one in the left arm. The incident took placed at Zone 10.

According to a police report from the Provincial Intelligence Branch of Misamis Oriental police office, the suspect, upon sensing that he was transacting with police undercover agents, pulled out a hand grenade and attempted to lob it to the responding team.

The same group rushed the wounded suspect to JR Borja Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Seized at the crime scene were two sachets of suspected shabu, a P1,000 bill, and a fragmentation grenade.

The operation was spearheaded by Police Col. Esperidion Biado and witnessed by Barangay kagawad Gil Micabalo.

Banosa will be facing charges on illegal drugs and illegal possession of an explosive which is a non-bailable offense.
