TUBOD, Lanao del Norte — Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (Opapp) Secretary Jesus Dureza visited Lanao del Norte recently.

He came to grace the “Panagtagbo sa Kalinaw” (Convergence for Peace) held at the Provincial Capitol of the province in celebration of the Lanao Month of Peace.

The event was organized by the Civil Society Organization – LNPPD in cooperation with the National Police, People’s Organizations, Religious Leaders, Academe, Women and Youth, Non-State Actors representing the “North Delegation” and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Provincial and Local Government Units, and National Government Agencies, representing the “South Delegation.”

It opened with the symbolic meeting of the North and South Delegations in which Dureza walked with the South Delegation together with Governor Imelda Q. Dimaporo and other officials.

The guests and participants were welcomed by Governor Dimaporo who recalled her personal experience together with Congressman Abdullah when they almost got killed also during the attack of Kauswagan town in 2001 that prompted then President Joseph Estrada to declare an all-out war against the MILF.
