DAVAO Mayor Rodrigo Duterte topped in the mock polls involving some 700 students, faculty and staff of the Southern Philippine College (SPC) here on Friday.

Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of the city’s 2nd District also emerged as the favorite mayoral candidate in the school.

John Mark Edio, the president of the school’s central students government, said Duterte bested other presidential candidates with 74.96 percent of the votes.

Sen. Grace Poe had 15.31 percent, former interior secretary Manuel Roxas II garnered 3.67 percent, Vice President Jejomar Binay bagged 3.51 percent, and Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago received 2.55 percent of the votes cast.

Edio said some 700 students and academics, all registered voters, cast their votes.

For the vice presidential race, Duterte’s running mate Alan Peter Cayetano emerged as the favorite with 32.12 percent.

Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had 22.19 percent, Sen. Francis Escudero with 18.21 percent, Rep. Ma. Leonor Robredo with 15.23 percent, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV with 9.60 percent, and Sen. Gringo Honasan with 2.65 percent.

In the city’s mayoral race, Rep. Rodriguez topped in the mock polls with 40.52 percent, followed by former mayor Vicente Emano with 37.12 percent, and Mayor Oscar Moreno with 22.37 percent.

In the vice mayoral race, Councilor Roger Abaday emerged as the favorite with 47.02 percent, Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas with 37.42, and Rainier Joaquin Uy with 15.56 percent.
