Gingoog City — The Eastern Misamis Oriental Press Club (EMOPC) finally organized yesterday at Queen Bistro and Restaurant, here.

At least 30 media practitioners from different outlets coming from this city, Balibgasag, and other towns in the eastern part of Misamis Oriental attended the organizational meeting which was presided by broadcaster Ronnie Waniwan.

Waniwan said the purpose of the organization is to strengthen and professionalize the members of the media within the area.

The elected first set of officers were President Del Mark Valendez, manager of Like Radio FM; Vice President for Broadcast Eddie Mainit, of Like Radio FM; Vice President for Print Edwin Iyo, of Mindanao Gold Star Daily; Secretary Ofelia Mandokita, manager of Radio ng Bayan; Treasurer Nephtalie Apa, manager of Hope Radio FM; Auditor (Internal) Ruchelle Dalit; Auditor (Extenal) Ricardo Cañete; Public Information Officers Eron Kervin Ranoa of Radio Rapido, Alberto Montejo of Goodluck FM, and JayLord Fernandez of Like Radio. The club’s advisers are Ronnie Waniwan, Hedy de Lara, and Pastor Edgard Tuto.
