THE Department of Public Works and Highways would build another major road that would link San Simon, this city, and Opol town in Misamis Oriental all the way to Iligan City, Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano has revealed.

Emano said the planned diversion road would link the Cagayan de Oro barangay to the Bagocboc Road in Opol town and traverse Alubijid and El Salvador City in Misamis Oriental.

The governor said Public Works Secretary Mark Villar has already approved the proposed road project that would cost some P4 billion to P6 billion.

If plans don’t miscarry, the road project would commence next year, said Emano.

“We are so happy to note the secretary’s approval of the proposed road project which would ultimately decongest traffic build-ups in Misamis Oriental areas and in Cagayan de Oro,” reads part of a dispatch from the Provincial Information Office that quoted Emano.

He said he was also informed by Secretary Villar that more infrastructure projects would be undertaken in the province in the coming months.
