THE political forces of Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano and outgoing Rep. Peter Unabia are being mobilized, and their alliance is being strengthened in an effort to win three strategic leadership positions in the province.

This early, the Emano-Unabia alliance has set its eyes on the presidencies of the provincial chapters of the League of Municipalilities of the Philippines (LMP), the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VLMP), Philippine Councilors’ League. The organizations are presently led by political allies of the Uy family.

Emano expressed optimism that the Padayon Pilipino-PDP-Laban alliance in the province would be able to win the presidencies of the three influential organizations.

“We have the strength,” said Emano even as he claimed that 14 of Misamis Oriental’s mayors, including Gingoog City, are with the alliance.

“With this, we have the chance of getting back the presidency of LMP,” he said.

The LMP, basically, is the organization of municipal mayors. Its president in Misamis Oriental is Villanueva Mayor Jennie Rosalie Uy of the National Unity Party (NUP). Uy’s mother Juliette is the province’s 2nd District representative while her father Julio is a former vice governor who challenged Emano’s reelection bid.

Emano said the alliance is also moving to win the VLMP and PCL leaderships in the province.

On one hand, the local VMLP chapter is headed by Vice Mayor Chizarina Ortigoza of Opol town, an ally of the Uys. On the other hand, the president of the PCL in the province is Councilor Lilian Gallogo of Libertad, another ally of the Uys.

Emano said he and Unabia had initial discussions on their strategy after his (Emano’s) oathtaking in Tagoloan town on Thursday.

“Magkahiusa kami tanan og magtinabangay nga makuha namo kini og balik ngadto sa among alliance,” Emano said.

He said members of the alliance would have consultations and call for a series of meetings so they could agree on their candidates for the LMP and VMLP.

But this early, the names of mayors Alex Quina of Balingasag and Rommel Maslog of Talisayan have surfaced as possible candidates of the Emano-Unabia alliance in the LMP.

The Emano-Unabia alliance has counted its mayors: Quina of Balingasag, Maslog of Talisayan, Aaron Paul Unabia of Balingoan, Romy Gue Sr. of Binuangan, Gogoy Acain of Initao, Red Jardin of Jasaan, Jap Puertas of Lagonglong, Bebot Perez of Lugait, Rey Buhisan of Magsaysay, Antonio Baculio of Manticao, Dandan Chan of Medina, Dennis Roa of Naawan, Jun Capistrano of Salay, and Mildred Lagbas of Sugbongcogon.

For the VLMP, Emano said, the alliance counted at least 16 vice mayors: Veja Ongcachuy-Dilla of Balingoan, Michelle Abao of Binuangan, Rogelio Estrada of El Salvador City, Rudy Damasing of Gitagum, Bembem Sayre of Initao, Juan Po of Jasaan, Tomas Zarate of Kinoguitan, Marita Ramonal of Lagonglong, Jed Christian Sayre of Libertad, Charlie Buhisan of Magsaysay, Stephen Tan of Manticao, Kimboy Odchigue of Medina, Jaime Roa of Naawan, Sonny Tan of Salay, Derrick Lagbas of Sugbongcogon, and Robinson Sabio of Tagoloan.
