M/Sgt. Silmer Daconlay of the Villanueva police said the suspect, identified as Masky Aquiman, stabbed and boloed his 63-year-old father, Meliton Aquiman, at around 5 pm in Barangay Kimaya, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

Police said the victim was struck with a bolo in the neck at least thrice, and he was nearly beheaded.

“Na-igo ang iyang tiyan sa  pagdunggab, ug gitigbas pa sa suspect ang iyang abaga mao tong patay on the spot ang biktima,” said Vic Serilla of the Villanueva police station.

Serilla said Masky came home from the family’s farm to see his father drunk, punching his mother Dolly and then pushing his younger sister who was carrying a child.

The suspect, remorseful, was arrested. Behind bars inside the Villanueva police station, he owned responsibility for his father’s death.

Masky said he was forced to kill his own father because the old man was mauling his mother.

He said he tried to pacify his father but he was ignored.

Police however said no member of the family has shown interest in pressing charges against Masky. The victim’s wife confirmed that she and other members of the family would not file charges.

But Serilla said the police is preparing a parricide complaint against the suspect.
