Retired Executive M/Sgt. Jacinto Lorena of Mohon, Tagoloan in Misamis Oriental, died of head injury at the St. Paul Hospital where he was rushed following his crash on an old bridge in Tagoloan at around 6 pm Wednesday.

M/Sgt. Lowell Maniana said Lorena was riding a Honda XRM motorcycle from Villanueva town and opted to cross the bridge that was undergoing repair by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Maniana said Lorena, a former member of the Villanueva police station, wasn’t supposed to cross  that bridge on a motorcycle because there was a plastic barricade put in place by the DPWH.

“Pag-abot sa tunga, nahulog ang iyang motorsiklo sa bangag sa  salog sa tulay nga na-ay daghang kabilya,  ug milagpot ang iyang motor sa mga 20 metros ug nabunal  iyang ulo sa  siding nga semento,” Maniana said.

Meanwhile in Cagayan de Oro, a man who was hit by a pick-up truck while crossing JR Borja Extension was declared dead on arrival at the hospital yesterday morning.
