AS chairman of the City Council committee on urban and rural poor and housing development, Councilor Edgar Cabanlas expressed his desire to fast track the implementation of the socialized-housing project of the city government for city hall employees.

This, after Cabanlas conducted an ocular inspection with the representatives of City Housing and Urban Development Division at the relocation areas in Barangay Lumbia, this week.

It may be recalled that the City Council approved separate ordinances appropriating an amount for the payment of just compensation to lot owners for the implementation of the City Shelter Plan-Acquisition of a 60-hectare land for the purpose.

The proposed project is intended for permanent city hall employees who still do not have houses. The project aims to ensure that they would soon have homes that they could call their own.

Cabanlas also visited the proposed relocation site at Sitio Pahiron, Barangay Lumbia.

The 722 housing units’ relocation area of the city was constructed for Sendong survivors, and funded by the Japan Non Project grant aid. (sp)
