WITH nothing to bring into Cagayan de Oro City and exposed to be an epic failure, it looks like arrogance is what is left of mayoral candidate Pompee La Viña.

This man is a monumental failure. He has been marred by controversies wherever he goes. And this early in his bid for the city’s top post, he runs amok — looking for a fight, shouting invectives, insults like an uneducated man. And he does this with armed bodyguards in tow.

Based on records, all his businesses had failed. His music recording business, real estate business in the US, Kia Diliman car dealership, Texhoma Trading Corp. (which is said to supply ingredients to feedmills) had all failed.

The car dealership and feedstock businesses resulted in a P22-million estafa complaint in 2014. But despite that, La Viña is a rich man. Why?

Estafa involves moral turpitude. So, the complaint is something that cannot just be swept under the rug just like that especially when someone is offering to become the leader of a city like Cagayan de Oro.

In 2015, he ventured into politics and endeared himself to the camp of the then Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. He became a member of the communications group of the presidential campaign. But according to insider accounts, he was booted out of the communiciations group for being troublesome.

After the President won in 2016, he got a juicy commissioner’s post at the Social Security System (SSS). After an alleged attempt to overprice SSS’ media projects, he got booted out. The rest is history.

According to insiders, in one of his fits of tantrum at the SSS spurned by the exposure of the P26-million overpriced project proposal, nagtaray si Pompee, and he was quoted as saying: “Mayaman ako, di ko kailangan pera ng SSS.”

Oo nga, mayaman ka, palpak naman lahat negosyo mo. Why?

He got another post at the Department of Tourism where he got into trouble with the then Secretary Wanda Teo. Teo’s brother, boadcaster Ben Tulfo, was so pissed with him for causing trouble to his sister.

He then had an uneventful four-month stint at the Department of Agriculture, and he came home peddling fake news and sowing hate.

Except for his toxicity, this man has nothing good to offer — he can’t even dance a step, and his singing has gone yabag.
