“HIS official career was in corporate PR… If you asked him what his official role was, he’d say something like ‘We promote or defend a company’s interest in the public arena. Anything that is written or said about a company has an impact on its employees, their families, and the people who do business with that company. The media is incredibly powerful. It can ruin careers, shut down businesses. But how does society protect itself against the media? By hiring people like us. We ensure that what is written is fair, the better truth.

“And officially? ‘We lie a lot.’”

Haha!

In case you want to know more about public relations (PR), that’s from Anna Maxted’s book, “Being Committed,” which is fiction, and it’s not about PR, so, its definition of PR may not be true. Still, there’s a reason why a press release is sometimes called a “praise release.” Add fake news to that, and it’s, Good luck na lang.

PR is a politician’s best friend. But the best friend who spreads gossip about you is absolutely not your friend. Gossip is not even the truth. Gossip is merely meant to make that so-called best friend look good to his fellow gossipers.

One does not even have to be a politician to attract the attention of a chismosa. So, if you’re a member of the madlang pehpohl and is a victim of gossip, there’s this meme that says, “I used to feel like my side of the story needed to be told to keep the facts right. Now I don’t care what story you choose to believe.”

There’s this politician who has always shown that she doesn’t “care what story you choose to believe,” and she will level up to a higher position in 2022. But she has to be careful with the people she’s dealing with because we’ve already noticed one user who’s sometimes starring in her Facebook photos. Beware.

The leader of a political party prefers to know the background of the wannabe who wants to be a part of his team, otherwise, the party’s PR will end up using wag-the-dog strategies to cover up that wannabe’s hard habits to break.

The wannabe who hesitates to reveal the truth and nothing but the truth, will “inspire” the political party’s leader to hesitate in accepting his request to be part of the team. Fair’s fair.

The wannabe now realizes he has to reveal the truth before he can level up to a higher position. And now you know why he hasn’t leveled up yet. It was easier when he still had a PR team he could ask for advice. But then, he started gossiping about his PR team, spreading lies about them. And that’s after the team raised his status to the next level. Tsk tsk. Bakit ba ganyan?

The people currently surrounding the wannabe are gossipers who are stuck with their lies and who don’t know anything about PR. I don’t know if the term, “The proof is in the pudding,” is the right description for this. Haha! His former PR team can now see that the wannabe is not dressed well, he’s wearing the wrong shoes, his hairstyle doesn’t make him look nice, and people now know the truth behind his headlines. The positive side of this is, he doesn’t know that his current so-called friends are merely using him for his money and connections. Fair’s fair?

Well, the wannabe could be anyone you know—that’s why he sounds familiar.

Politics is not for the weak. The wannabe has to be strong enough to face his own personal truth first, before he can be true to the madlang pehpohl he wants to serve. He doesn’t even have to tell the madlang pehpohl that truth. All he needs to do is to be true to the leader of the political party he wants to join, so, they can prepare their wag-the-dog strategies this early. Once that’s set, the wannabe can then level up in 2022.

People will tell you what you want to hear. The user can easily notice if you’re fond of gossip because you’re the type who always asks, Unsa na, kinsa na, even if you’re not part of the conversation. You will even walk from another part of the room, in order to reach a certain group of people who are obviously gossiping about someone. And if that someone is you, well, that’s definitely fair’s fair.
