BUTUAN City — A 53-year old farmer in Agusan del Sur ran amok and hacked his own mother, uncle and three bystanders on Monday, authorities said.

Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur Chief of Police Senior Insp. Jerry Fernandez identified the suspect as Willy Cahigas Casil, 53, farmer and resident of Purok 15, Barangay Sta. Irene, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

Report from Prosperi-dad Police claimed the suspect went berserk after a heated argument hacked his own mother identified as Lucia Cahigas Casil, 73, the suspect’s uncle Enriquito Cahigas, 65, younger bro-ther of Lucia and three other bystanders who were kibitzing near the suspect’s house.

Casil’s mother sustained hack wounds on the forehead while Cahigas sustained hack wounds in the arm and different parts of his torso.

Authorities identified the three wounded bystanders as Josefe Caano, Jimmy Bagsina and Pascual Bagtikan who sustained stab and hack wounds in parts of their bodies. All of the victims, however, have been declared no longer in critical condition, Fernandez added.

After wounding the five persons, Casil continued with his rampage sending his neighbors scampering for safety. Suddenly, an unidentified gunman shot Casil in the head.

Casil, including all his five hacking and stabbing victims, were brought to Governor Democrito O. Plaza Sr. Memorial Hospital. Casil was pronounce dead on arrival by the hospital’s emergency staff.

Police said they are still investigating the incident including the possibility that Casil may have been under the influence of illegal drugs.
