FIRE broke out and destroyed nine houses in Macanhan, Carmen, this city, on Thursday night.

Officials said the fire took place at Phase 1, Macanhan, at around 6:30 pm, leaving some 55 people or about 14 families homeless.

Insp. Arnold Lagbas,  chief of the City Fire Station 3, said no was was hurt, and he placed  the structural damages at P300 thousand.

He said the fire reportedly originated from the house belonging to one Andy Go.

Lagbas said investigation results show that the fire was caused by an unattended candle lit because of a blackout at that time.

Firemen put the situation under control at around 7:33 pm, and declared a “fire out” at 8 pm.

Aside from Go’s families, the fire also left homeless the families of Florida and Rose Ambal, Judy Canoy, Michael Lester Catacutan, Jose Marie  Daque, Andrew Go, Roque Villas, Felma Remando,  Dionedes Catacutan, Maricel Lozada, Jennelyn Pacho, Marites Rayco, Ella Sul-aron, and Elerito Verbocidad.
