A STILL unidentified man shot and killed a fish cage worker from Balingasag, Misamis Oriental near Agora, Lapasan at dawn yesterday.
Agora police chief Maj. Julius Macariola identified the victim as Rudillo Ganzan Baldo. Another report however identified the victim as 30-year-old or Odie Jamrasta of Barangay Waterfalls, Balingasag town.
Baldo, who was a worker for fish dealers, was already dead by the time police arrived at the crime scene.
Crime scene investigators said the killer shot the victim eight times with a 9mm pistol.
At the crime scene, investigators found six empty shells, P350 in cash, some loose change, and a few cigarette sticks.
Macariola said witnesses have come forward and were helping the police solve the case.
Police said investigators said it could have been a case of murder due to personal grudges or a summary execution.
The victim allegedly had an affair with a married woman from Barangay Bayabas, and even bragged about it.
Police said that a night before the killing, the victim was with his friends in a drinking binge, and he allegedly bragged about his affair with the woman.
One of his friends told investigators that the victim was even busy exchanging text messages with another person, and then he left the group.
A witness said the victim stood at a road corner while he waited for someone.
Subsequently, the and a still unidentified man were seen talking to each other. The witness said he then heard gunbursts, and saw the victim sprawled on cold concrete.
Meanwhile, a man who worked as a maintenance crew member of a mall here, hanged himself in a boarding house apparently because his girlfriend called it quits.
S/Sgt. Hernan Abalde of the Carmen police identified the suicide as 26-year-old Henry Paranegan of Zone 1, Upper Balulang, this city.
Paranegan was already dead when he was found hanging inside his room at 7 am yesterday.
Abalde said Paranegan was with his friends in a drinking binge the night before.
“Sa diha kamulo silang inum, ang biktima daw sigi estorya mahitungod sa iyang ex- nga kaipon. Gihigugma pa daw niya ug gusto siya patigbalik,” Abalde said.
According to Abalde, Paranegan had two children with his estranged partner whom he wanted back.
