Police investigator Jackilou Malagamba of the Tagoloan police station, said 14-year-old Kenneth Millena of Zone 2A, Baluarte in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, was found floating in sea waters by two fishermen.

The discovery ended the search for the teenager who was last seen with his two friends near a dike at Zone 1, Baluarte.

According to Malagamba, Millena and his friends were swimming across the Tagoloan River.

Villagers immediately organized a search but failed to find the missing teenager until yesterday.

Meanwhile in Zone 3, Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental, a carpenter killed himself inside his room over the weekend.

Police identified the suicide as 30-year-old Arsenio Rius Jr. of Zamboanga del Norte.

The victim’s elder brother Antonio said he found Rius hanging inside his room at around 2 am Saturday.

Last year, the suicide’s wife had left him and their three children, the eldest of whom is only eight years old. The couple had frequently quarreled over Rius’s drinking problem.

Antonio said Rius had a drinking binge with his friends at a store near the house the night before.

There was no indication that his brother would commit suicide — he appeared to be in a good mood, said Antonio.

But Rius’s sister Perlita said her brother had acted strange lately — he often stared blankly.
