THE Alliance of Labor Union-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (Alu-TUCP) is urging companies across Northern Mindanao to comply to the new wage increase order of the National Wages and Productivity Commission which will take effect on Nov. 1, this year.
In its Wage Order No. 20, the NWPC approved the P27 wage increase for all workers in the region.
Nicandro Borja, Alu-TUCP director for operations, said the Department of Labor and Employment started distributing the copy of the wage order to newspapers for publication on Oct. 17.
The order takes effect two weeks after its publication in newspapers.
This means, Borja explained, that on Nov. 1 workers under Category 1 in the region should start receiving P365 in wages per day. Category 1 areas are the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, and the towns of Tagoloan, Villanueva, and Jasaan in Misamis Oriental.
Under Category 2, workers in the private sector in the cities of Malaybalay and Valencia in Bukidnon, Gingoog City and El Salvador City in Misamis Oriental, and Ozamiz City in Misamis Occidental would receive a daily wage of P358. Areas included under Category 2 are Lugait and Opol towns in Misamis Oriental, the towns of Maramag, Quezon, and Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon.
Workers in Oroquieta City and Tangub City in Misamis Occidental, the towns of Balingasag and Laguindingan in Misamis Oriental, which comprises areas under Category 3, would receive P350 per day.
Under Category 4, workers would receive a P343 daily wage. Areas under this category are the towns and cities in Northern Mindanao that have not been included in Categories 1, 2, and 3.
Meanwhile, the daily wages of agricultural workers in the region have also been divided into four categories with the same respective cities and towns.
Under Category 1, agricultural workers would receive a P353 daily wage. Agricultural workers under Category 2 would receive P346 per day. Under Category 3, agricultural workers would receive P338 wage per day, while agricultural workers under Category 4 would receive a P331 daily wage.
