December season really brings all the yummy threats out. Considering a diet on this month is not a good idea a time of parties and celebration, a time of thanksgiving and fellowship and a time of festivities and laughter.
The last few months I have been traveling around Mindanao and I would like to share great foods that I have encountered along the way. I have to admit that I am not a food connoisseur, in fact I am more of a seefood guy which roughly means what I see is food, but there are really cuisines that my simple taste really appreciates during my travels and I would love to share them here.
Good Times Café and Art Gallery. This artsy place located in C. P. Garcia Street, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte has creative ambiance and great food. Visual artist and the gallery’s founder Ed Tabancura owned the place where art and nature mixed.
I have been into this place a couple of times in the last few months and its rejuvenating to just chill and hang out. Food being served here are cooked fresh by resident artist Aldren Elman. Going to a new places for me is also experiencing local dining and the lutong bahay feel of Good Time Café are way exceptional. If you are around Dipolog please do drop by at the only creative space in Dipolog City. Your body will not be the only one nourished but your creative imagination also.
Balik Bukid Farm & Kitchen. This organic, eco-friendly and creative food place is located in Sandawa Plaza Brgy, 8000, Quimpo Blvd, Davao City, Davao del Sur. Being in this place a couple of times, I still can’t over with their organic food stuff.
Their black Kutsinta is so amazing and also their multi colored rice really impressed me when I first saw it. Aside from being a resto, Balik Bukid is also promoting local musicians in Davao to jam in their vicinity, visual artist are also doing art exhibit inside their place. Winky’s Lechon by Anastasia Lee. Chef Anastasia Lee is based in Cagayan de Oro City and have first established stuffed lechon here in the city of Golden Friendship. I have tasted her stuffed lechon and it was so delicious.
Chef Anastasia have innovated new ways in cooking lechon, either it will be stuffed with seafood’s or whole dressed chicken. You will enjoy in digging through the belly of the lechon and discovering wonderful and delicious surprises waiting for you. To order please don’t hesitate to contact 0998 560 6851.
