LTFRB-10 regional director Aminodin Guro said jeepney operators and drivers who collect more than the official minimum fare in the region will be sanctioned with fines.

Guro reiterated that they have yet to decide on the petition for a fare increase in the region filed by Trafeco.

This means Guro said, that the minimum fare for the first four kilometers is still P7.50 and an additional P1.40 for each of the succeeding kilometer.

Guro’s warning comes at heels of the deluge of complaints their office have received recently, especially from commuters in Barangay Bugo, this city.

According to the complaints, Guro said, jeepney operators and drivers of Bugo liners have been asking their passengers P5 more than the minimum fare. This, even as LTFRB-10 has yet to issue a new fare tariff rate.

Guro said the minimum fare from Cogon Public Market to Barangay Bugo should only be P20 per passenger and not P25.
