Two still unidentified gunmen shot and killed James Peter Gonzales on Vamenta Boulevard in Carmen, this city at around 11:45 pm, Wednesday.

Gonzales, 22,  of 30th-32th Sts., Nazareth Subdivision, here, had just been released from police custody almost five hours before the fatal incident.

Carmen Police Station’s Chief Insp. Joepet Paglinawan told the Gold Star Daily that irate residents of Upper Balulang had collared Gonzales, and blamed him for a series of robbery in high-end subdivisions in their barangay.

Paglinawan said  he ordered the release of Gonzales at around 6 pm on Wednesday because residents no formal complaint was filed.

“Basin naa ’to siya’y kontra,” Paglinawan said. (nitz arancon)
