TUNGUD kay down trend na ang cases of dengue, it doesn’t mean mag-undang na kita. Atong e-sustain gyud ang pagpanglimpyo.”

Councilor Maria Lourdes Gaane, chair of the City Council committee on health and health insurance, pointed out even as reports affirmed that dengue fever cases decreased since the city-wide task force anti-dengue campaign started.

During the meeting last week, Dr. Joey Retuya, epidemiologist, presented the latest on the dengue fever cases of the city from January up to Sept. 6.

He said they have discovered a decrease in the number of cases since the city initiated a strategy on Oplan Kontra Dengue, a clean-up drive against dengue last month.

Retuya informed the committee that the task force has already consolidated the schedule of the clean-up drive in every barangay.

However, he added that if this will be ignored, there is a chance that there will be an upsurge of the number of cases of dengue.

Retuya called for the support of barangay officials in sustaining the clean-up drive. So that their community will be free from dengue, he added.

“If this will continue or it will be sustained in a barangay, we will have  a decrease of dengue cases,” he cited.

Gaane expressed hopes that the Office of Community Affairs in coordination with the City Health Office will conduct monitoring of the weekly clean-up drive in every barangay so that cleanliness in the community will be sustained.

Dako ang kausaban ug dako ang mahimo kung manglimpyo gyud kita,” she said.

Naa gyu’y tendency nga mosaka na sad ang dengue cases,” Gaane added.

Gaane lauded all individuals, organizations, and other stakeholders who participated in the Oplan Kontra Dengue clean-up drive of the city. (sp)
