GINGOOG City – Some business establishments including ukay-ukay, grocery stores, sidewalk and market vendors of this city had been benefitting from the recently concluded May 9 national and local elections as their sales dramatically increased during the said event.

They allegedly pointed out the increase in sales was due to voters who received money from politicians who practiced vote buying practices which is rampant during election period in the country.

Dante Salang branch manager of the Prince Town Gingoog in this city was asked how much they have earned had no comment on the matter, but confirmed like any other establishments that there is a significant increase in sales especially on grocery items and other products.

Salang estimated an 80% increased during May 9 and is said to be the biggest so far and their store is one of many who benefited from thousands of customers coming from this city and other neighboring municipalities.

He added their store sales alone doubled as compared to its regular days and event topping last year’s Christmas season.

Prince Town Gingoog is the biggest grocery store in the entire province of Misamis Oriental with about 42 counters.

Rolando Pelias Vice President of the Gingoog Federated Market Vendors Association for their part said their members/vendors  were pleased with the turnout of sales.

Dako kaayo ang kalipay sa mga vendors tungod sa kadaghan sa ilang halin ning mga adlawa,” Pelias said.
