MARAWI City –A harvest festival was held on Sunday, March 3, in Barangay Lumbac, municipality of Ganassi to mark the graduation of 180 farmer-trainees from six barangays of the municipality.
This after four-months training on fruit and vegetable farming under the Go Negosyo Kapatid Agri Mentor Me program.
The festival was graced by Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, Go Negosyo Agripreneurship Adviser and Bangsamoro Region Programs Head, who said the success of the harvest festival was the fruit of the hard work and the love for farming of the trainees.
Despite the absence of rain for two months and the difficulty of providing water to the crops, the trainees were still able to harvest.
The crops successfully grown by them include melon, squash, tomato, eggplant, hot pepper, bell pepper, cucumber, bottle gourd, okra, lettuce, petchay, string beans, mustard, radish, white scallion (sakurab) and sweet corn.
Also present in the ceremony were the local officials of Ganassi headed by Mayor Al-rashid Macapodi, as well as personnel from the Lanao del Sur Provincial Government, and Department of Agriculture – Lanao del Sur Provincial Office.
