ILIGAN City — Erstwhile President Duterte’s aide turned senator-elect Christopher Lawrence Go came over with relief aid for victims of the recent fire in Barangay Ubaldo Laya here.
There was much fanfare as Go arrived on a motorcycle at the barangay covered court where the victims were temporarily housed.
Go was flanked by fire victims as he announced that he came to bring them relief goods and some cash donated by his friends.
“We will not be around for too long in this life. So, if there is a chance to help others, let us do it now,” he said in Bisaya.
The relief goods consisted of assorted food items while each family received P2,000 in cash.
According to City Social Welfare Development head Grace Joy Saquilabon, 96 houses were destroyed while seven were damaged in the fire that broke out last month.
