Iligan City — The Mandulog bridge that was destroyed when typhoon Sendong struck on Dec. 17, 2011, is still not repaired up to this time.

Engr. Aly Khan U. Ali, OIC Department of Public Works and Highways, Lanao Norte 2nd Engineering District said this is so because there’s still “no deal” between the government and the owners particularly in the Barangay San Roque side.

“If I’m not mistaken, the offer was to pay for their area is from P620 to P650 per square meter,” he said.

Ali added that residents did not accept it as they want a higher price. With that, there would be expropriation proceedings.

The other side, which is the Cabaro side, is already okay, meaning, a deal has already been agreed upon. He did not elaborate as to the price. They already have a writ of possession in the area, Ali said. The schedule for the completion of the work on the bridge on San Roque is the end of this year, Ali said.

The bridge, to note, is a shortcut to getting across San Roque. Presently, commuters have to go on a circuitous route to get to the barangay, with plenty of “habal-habal” drivers offering rides to and from the area.
