THE acquisition of public lands by people who used to work for the government, officials and by people who have connections with government agencies is nothing new and may still be happening until today.

Most are hidden secrets until they fall from power or become subjects of intensive investigation by the State.

“Weather-weather lang” was popularized by former President Erap Estrada. Our Presidents are vested with enormous powers, making them feeling like gods. But unlike the God up above, even the little gods on earth have to bow down when the people themselves want them out. Thus, when they fall from power, they will be haunted by the one sitting on the throne. And the cycle continues.

Vice President Jejomar Binay, my guess, comes second to the late dictator in terms of being investigated intensively. The wealth Binay and his family have amassed on and off the records do not add up with their combined government income even to include whatever business they are into.

Greed can sometimes be the cause of one’s downfall. But for Binay, it’s not only greed but his desire to become the President of the land. Binay is not stupid not to know it. Only he knows his real worth. For that alone, he thinks and believes his money will bring him to Malacañang.

Binay refused to learn from what happened to the former Chief Justice or the much wiser former Ombudsman Merceditas Guitierrez who, after resigning from her post, now leads a quiet life.

No, I do not hope that Binay would quit and be forgotten. I hope he will go on so that all his deeds will be exposed further.

It is quite unbelievable that the city was not a recipient of any police car when Interior Secretary Mar Roxas was here distributing the same like Santa Claus.
If true, it does not speak well for Oca Moreno, the supposed candidate of the Liberal Party. So, what gives?
From the grapevine, it allegedly reached the ears of Roxas that Moreno is supporting Sen. Grace Poe, and that Moreno hosted a welcome party for Poe at Grand Caprice.
Granting that it is true, Moreno is just being pragmatic. Roxas has been known to be a heavy baggage, coupled with the reputation of his wife, “taray” to many, which turns people off.
If Rody Duterte turns out to be more popular than Poe, I think that Moreno would eventually join the Duterte bandwagon.
Loyalty rarely manifests itself when one’s own political survival is at stake.

The Bitan-ag Bridge, now under construction, is one project promised by Rep. Rufus Rodriguez. Although not really his project but one that is realized through his initiative, we still owe it to him.

Having said that, maybe it’s not too much to ask the good congressman to request DPWH or the project contractor to show to the people what they can expect in the future, and how the bridge would look like.

I would not mind being inconvenienced by that project as long as there is something good to look forward to. I have written about this twice already. Is that too much to ask?
