Maj. Julius Clark Macariola, Agora police station commander, identified the dead man as Danilo Llarinas of Wao, Lanao del Sur.

Llarinas was found dead in the service area of Japnar Truck Corp. located along the highway in Gusa at around 6 am.

Macariola said a bullet was pumped into the head of the 30-year-old Llarinas, and crime scene investigators found the victim’s bag and a shotgun and a 9mm pistol beside him.

He was identified by his sister-in-law Josephine of Barangay Cugman. “Ako na siyang bayaw,” she told the police, adding that his death was a mystery to her family. She said they could not think of any reason why anyone would murder the guard.

Macariola said Llarinas, who lived in a boarding house in Gusa, was found facing down and lifeless.

He said investigators were not ruling out the possibility that it was a case of suicide.

Investigators said the guard’s belongings were intact, and there were no signs of a struggle.

“Pero dili gihapon namo i-set aside ang laing anggulo sa panghitabo. Amo gihapong tan awon kung naa bay laing hinungdan kay basin naay laing tawo mipusil niya,” Macariola said.

Jennifer Nervisa, a relative of the dead guard, said Llarinas had just arrived in the city from Manila.  She said Llarinas was separated from his wife and had no children.
