Dr. Fe Bongas, city health officer, said the cases and deaths were recorded from January to July 24.

Those who died were all 10-year-old children, and three of them were from Barangay Lapasan. The three children died of dengue last week.

But Bongas said the figures were not alarming, pointing out that the number of dengue cases showed a 24-percent decrease compared to the number of dengue cases in the city during the same period last year.

She appealed to people in communities to help by keeping their surroundings clean and get rid of open water containers that can be turned into breeding grounds of dengue fever-causing mosquitoes. (Nitz Arancon)
