POLICE and Army units are now searching hospitals in the four provinces and five cities of Region 10, looking for any survivors of the Abu Sayyaf band that clashed in Bohol Island on Tuesday morning.

Camp Alagar  spokesperson Supt. Lemuel Gonda said security forces are carefully monitoring hospitals and clinics just in case some of the Abu Sayyaf members were able to escape Inabanga town in Bohol.

He said the entire police regional command and the Army’s 403rd Infantry Brigade were on full alert after receiving reports about the clash between the Abu Sayyaf fighters and government troops in Inabanga, Bohol.

“We are monitoring any movements here in case some of the bandits were able to escape,” Gonda said.

The clash in Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Napo, Inabanga town left three soldiers killed while five of the Abu Sayyaf rebels were reported dead, according to a report reaching the PNP Region 10.

A soldier identified as Corporal Porlas and a policeman identified as PO2 Nazareno were wounded in the clash.

The dead soldiers were identified as a certain 2Lt. Saldua; a Sgt. Duero and a Corporal Cahaban.

The report said five bodies of the rebels were recovered along with three M16 and a M4 assault rifles. Several improvised explosive devices were covered from the rebel backpacks.

Gonda said the report said 10 Abu Sayyaf members on three motorized boats arrived at the river of Inabanga on Tuesday night.

He said the Air Force also flew a bombing sortie in the small village.
