Two fathers were arrested after having a quarrel with their own children in separate occasions last Thursday morning.
Those arrested were identified as Eduardo Cabatuan, 59, residing at Barangay Tablon, a tricab driver; and Joseph Lauron, 36, of the same Barangay, both of Cagayan de Oro City.
Cabatuan said he came home from work when he was met by his daughter asking him whether he bought a broom.
“Sa dihang mitubag ko nga nalimtan nakog palit, iya kong giingnan nga wala koy boot ug boang ko,” Cabatuan said.
Angry, he belted his daughter.
The daughter later called up the police and have her father arrested.
As for Lauron who is currently in jail, punched his wife while in a quarrel with his two sons.
Prior to the incident, Lauron said he reminded his children to help their family financially.
“Apan hag-as man lang sila nasuko nako. Ang usa kanila mikuha og pala ug gibunal sa ako. Di ko makatoo sa ilang gibuhat nako,” Lauron said.
Instead of stopping her children, the wife alleged ordered her children to maul their father.
Due to his anger, Lauron said, he confronted his wife and punched her.
Neighbors ganged up on him and brought him to the police station.
Inside the jail, Lauron cried and said he can not believe what his sons had done to him.
He said he could not remember subjecting his children to corporal punishment when they were still small.
The two suspects are currently behind bars awaiting formal filing of charges from their respective family members. (Joey P. Nacalaban)
