The move was based on the order of the tribunal for the Commission on Elections here and the City Treasurer’s Office to help in bringing the ballot boxes to the Lower House in Metro Manila.

Tribunal officer Jason Sanchez said his group was directed as early as June 9, this year, to come here in order to collect the contested ballot boxes.

Sanchez said the ballot boxes were placed in a four 40-foot container vans. The 204 boxes contained ballots  that were used in the city’s 1st District in lasy year’s elections.

The ballot boxes also contain the voters’ registration records, books of voters, election day computerized voters lists, and other election documents and paraphernalia.

Darimbang, who challenged Uy’s reelection bid in the 2016 elections , has questioned the results of the congressional election in the city’s 1st district last year .

“Intact and whatever was preserved on June 9 will be brought by us to Manila,” said Sanchez.

He said it was now up for the House tribunal to schedule a recount.

Sanchez said, “After the retrieval of ballots, the recounting will be the next.”
