ONLY three congressmen who hail from Mindanao, all representing party-list groups, voted against the extension of martial law in the country’s second largest island.

None of the representatives of Mindanao’s congressional districts voted against the extension on Saturday.

The congressmen from Mindanao who opposed the extension were representatives Tomasito Villarin of  Akbayan, Ariel Casilao of Anakpawis, and Carlos Isagani Zarate of Bayan Muna.

The representatives of Mindanao’s congressional districts who voted in favor of the extension were:

Kusug Tausug Rep. Shernee Abubakar Tan and Pwersa ng Bayaning Atleta Rep. Jericho Nograles voted for the extention.

Reps. Doc Boy Flores of Bukidnon, Kaka Bag-ao of Dinagat Islands, Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo of Lanao del Norte were absent.

All three senators from Mindanao — Senate President Aquilino Martin Pimentel III, Emmanuel Pacquiao and Juan Miguel Zubiri — voted “yes”. (mindanews)
