Iligan City — City Mayor Celso Regencia said he has approved the changes in the curfew hours of the city.

He said curfew hours will now begin at 10:00 pm to 5:00 am everyday for minors while the adults’ curfew hours will begin from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am. He added he will give copies of the order to the police and then there will be a “recorida” throughout the city.

The new curfew hours took effect yesterday.

To recall, curfew here has been from 9:00 pm to 4:00 am since the Marawi seige in May 23 which pushed President Rodrigo Duterte to declare martial law in the entire island of Mindanao.

The changes in the curfew hours are embodied in an ordinance approved last week by the Sangguniang Panlungsod authored by Councilor Ian Uy of the Committee on Public Safety and Police Matters.

The change in the curfew hours is the city’s response to an appeal by businessmen, the mayor added.

The city’s peace and order situation has improved, he said as the bad elements in Marawi City are now further “neutralized.”

Regencia enjoined the constituents to be always on their guard and to welcome evacuees but reminded them to also follow the city’s rules and regulations.

The city police force has been beefed up by additional police officers from Police Regional Office 10.
