City General Services Division head lawyer Dexter Rey Sumaoy, said that bidding for market is on-going already and they are now determining the winning bidder on it.

However, Sumaoy did not say how much the total cost of the market is.

Though city mayor Celso Regencia earlier said that it is a “modern market” and the perspective of it was already with him.

Early March this year, the city government told market vendors to transfer to a “temporary market” at the Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal area at Tambo, this city, which they reluctantly did.

The site, the vendors claimed that the place has several defects like it was too narrow, no proper ventilation and gutter, with the water cascading like waterfalls during rains. But this was all corrected, according to Sumaoy.

The market site which the vendors had left is located in the center of the city, flattened already with most of the debris already disposed.
