Iligan City — City mayor Celso Regencia assured residents here regarding his suspension that could be served anytime, saying that Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz will function in his stead. In case the Department of Interior and Local Government serves the suspension order.
He said the Sandigan bayan did not grant his Motion for Reconsideration.
To recall, the mayor have been ordered suspended by the Sandigan bayan’s 7th Division for Usurpation of Authority as he was functioning as mayor even while in detention.
He was tagged as the alleged mastermind of an ambush of the convoy of then Rep. Vicente Belmonte, Jr in December 2014.
He was then tagged as the alleged mastermind and was detained for more than a year at the city jail.
His suspension supposed to start on February but the order has not been served yet.
