This was the statement yesterday of City Councilor Ian Uy even as he admitted there are some businessmen who want to dispense with the curfew. The councilor, who is chair of the committee on police matters, added that there are only a few of them who want to do away with the curfew. There are 60% who still want the city to maintain its curfew hours.

The city has been observing curfew hours of 11:00 pm to 4:00 am. The city, he said has several boundaries: Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Lanao Norte and Sur. So there are various threats as to peace and order, from the communists and from the Maute Group, he said. Especially now that the city’s fiesta and tourism month is fast approaching, he added.

“We do not want what happened in Marawi to happen here,” he said.
