Acting on a tip from upon a concerned citizen, the RCB Inspectorate Team together with personnel of the City Social Welfare Department conducted a joint operation against 12 minors in one of the beach resorts located at Barangay Bonbon,” he said.

After the operation, RCB issued a Notice of Inspection Findings against the said beach resort.

“This is the second time that this particular establishment catered and allowed a group of unaccompanied minors during class hours,” Resma said.

The minors, who were students of Cagayan de Oro City National High School and mostly residents of Barangay Nazareth, were brought to Nazareth Barangay Hall.

Appropriate interventions in the presence of school officials and their respective parents were given by the CSWD and Barangay Council for the Protection of Children.

Resma said the RCB has been strengthening its campaign to regulate inns, motels, hotels, resorts, and similar establishments which were recently included in its jurisdiction pursuant to City Ordinance No. 13394-2018, otherwise known as the Cagayan de Oro City Comprehensive Children’s Welfare Code of 2018.

The ordinance disallows unaccompanied minors in hotels, motels, inns, lodging houses, resorts, KTV Bars, Disco, nightclubs, and other similar establishments.

He said he personally thinks there is a need to drop the hammer on the erring resort to set an example.

“I will bring this matter to the attention of the CDO Regulatory and Complaint Board in its next meeting,” said Resma.

He added that the rescue operation would not have been possible without the active participation and support to RCB through reports and feedback.

“Keep it coming. Rest assured your RCB will act on it,” he said.
