Abundiente earlier issued a TRO in favor of the detained Regencia, forcing Marzo, who was acting mayor, to step aside. Regencia is detained in connection with a murder and frustrated murder case filed in connection with the 2014 ambush of the group of Rep. Vicente Belmonte Jr. near the airport in Misamis Oriental.

Marzon’s lawyer Moises Dalisay Jr. and lawyer-petitioner Ver Quimco confirmed gthat the judge issued the order.

Marzo has filed a motion to lift Abundiente’s TRO before the Court of Appeals in Cagayan de Oro.
