The owner of the pond, Lito dela Corda, said yesterday that city mayor Celso Regencia has hired him to take care of the pond there in its new  location.

“Koi,” to note is an edible fish that can live either in fresh or salt  water. It is known as “Carpa” in Spanish, and “karpa” in local language. The koi pond across the mall then had become a tourist attraction as people gawked and looked at the gold colored fishes swimming about in the creek.

It was learned though that government authorities frowned upon its establishment as there were structures that were placed along with the fishes and over them as they might hamper the free flow of water there and might cause flooding in the area specially during rainy days.

It will take about two to four months to complete the location of the pond at the city hall grounds.
