Police identified the suspect as Roel Villarubia, 29, of Zone 2, Talidhay, Barangay Cugman.

Chief Insp. Evan Vinas, chief of the Cugman police, said Villarubia was arrested after a teacher complained that the girl was allegedly abused several times by the suspect.

Vinas said the girl revealed that Villarubia repeatedly abused her, the most recent was on Wednesday morning when her mother was not in the house.

“Namatikdan sa teacher nga gahilom-hilom sa daplin ang bata mao nga nag-initiate kini og pangutana ug nisulti na dayon ang bata sa nahitabo niya,”  Vinas said.

But the girl’s mother dismissed the allegations against Villarubia, and scolded the girl instead, according to Vinas.

The mother insisted that her daughter was not abused, and that she would not press charges.

Vinas however said the police would file charges against Villarubia “bisan dili pa manumbong ang inahan.”
